C. J. Hardee

C. J. Hardee: I was born and raised in a small town in central Texas to a god-fearing family of six. My Father was a deacon at our local church and my Mother lead the children's ministry on Sundays and Wednesdays. I attended Colorado State University for two years, spending a semester abroad in Swansea, Wales. Finishing up my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of North Texas in 2010, I spent three weeks on a pilgrimage with a Messianic group in Israel, taught for four months at a Christian secondary school in Nairobi, Kenya and in the Spring of 2011 found myself working full-time with a Faith based Non-Profit in London, England for the 2012 Summer Olympics. While I worked in London, I also went to Graduate school full-time and in the Spring of 2012, I received my Master of Arts degree in Screenwriting for Film and Television. I have always had a passion and love for different cultures and religions and storytelling whether that be done as a novel, a film screenplay, through the pages of a graphic novel or the simple text of an online blog. At the age of 27, I came out to my family. I had known I was a Lesbian for nearly ten years prior and I had been living openly all through college and after. Every time I came home, I would live a half life around the family I loved and every conversation was on the surface. It has been a very hard road but I always try to find a silver lining and I firmly believe that my Faith and my Sexuality Identity can go hand in hand and that I am not loved any less by my God because of it. I have recently started blogging my experiences being LGBTQ and a Christian, in hopes of bringing courage and inspiring others to stay true to themselves and not be ashamed of who they are and hoping to help parents or family members of LGBTQ understand a little about what their friend or family member is going through. I currently live in Ft. Worth Texas and work for the Fort Worth Star Telegram in Digital Advertising to pay the bills and are a commissioned screenwriter to keep the heart happy!
